Arthur Sanderson founded his company in 1860 and as a renowned distributor of fine wallcoverings from around the world, his business flourished. Overwhelming demand led Sanderson to open his own Chiswick wallpaper factory in 1870, and in 1902 the factory was given a new extension, designed by the celebrated Arts and Crafts architect and designer CFA Voysey.
By the 1920s and 30s Sanderson’s fabric collections were also a byword for quality, especially the now iconic floral designs. The Sanderson collections include printed designs on cotton, linen and silk, together with jacquard and dobby weaves, embroideries, sheers and a wide range of plains suitable for curtains, upholstery and soft furnishings.
2020 sees Sanderson celebrate their 160th anniversary with an exciting series of events planned. There’s much to look forward to, so keep an eye out for new collections and special offers.
Sanderson fabrics really need to be seen in real life to appreciate the wonderful colours and textures available, with many having delicate embroidery, and numerous colourways. We keep a large selection of Sanderson sample books in stock, but do let us know if there is a specific collection you would like to see.
